The two new Nikon lenses for its Z series of cameras

Nikon has announced two new lenses, this time for its Z mirrorless Z. These are two very different types of lenses, being a fixed wide-angle lens and a very versatile telephoto zoom lens. They are the new Nikkor 20 mm f/1.8 S and the Nikkor Z 24-200 mm f/4-6.3 VR.

We start by reviewing the Nikkor 20mm f/1.8S, Nikon’s wide-angle lens with which we can capture images of all kinds, not just landscapes as may come to mind. The wide-angle has a great quality and focusing ability even in closer close-up shots. The minimum focusing distance is 0.20 meters. Sharpness is a feature that Nikon emphasizes, thanks to its high optical performance. Partly due to the brightness of the optics and partly due to the aspherical lens elements that compose it, they make a perfect tandem to achieve great image quality in any situation.

The lens consists of ED glass elements that prevent possible chromatic imperfections and comes with an anti-reflective nanocrystal system to prevent undesirable ghosting.

On the other hand there is the Nikkor 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR, the latest all-rounder for Nikon’ s Z series. With this lens we have a great possibility of creation by covering different focal lengths, and the fact that it is lightweight gives us the ease of being able to carry it comfortably on the road. Both lenses, Z-mount for full-frame cameras, give us a point of detail when working with them. Thus, with the wide-angle telephoto lens we can capture images with high contrast and vivid colors. Like the 20mm, it has ED glass and aspherical elements, which in this case also help to keep the image sharp at the edges at all focal lengths.

To avoid ghosting, in this case the telephoto lens is ARNEO coated. For this type of lens, where stability is important, especially when working with telephoto lenses, the Nikkor 24-200mm has a VR function to counteract possible lens shake so that it does not affect the final result of the image. With this function, the shutter speed can be up to 4.5 stops slower.

Both lenses have fast focus, which is perfect for shooting video or taking pictures, and in the case of the telephoto lens, lens breathing is reduced when changing focus. Both are protected and sealed to keep dust out of the camera for use in any conditions.

The Nikon website offers a list of suppliers where these two lenses can be purchased.
