The new Rokinon 85mm AF 1.4 Canon with RF mount

Rokinon has announced its new lens for RF mount, the Rokinon 85mm AF 1.4 RF mount lens, the Rokinon 85mm AF 1.4 Canon. This lens, which was already available for Sony E-mount, Nikon F-mount and Canon EF-mount, but under the Samyang brand, is released to cover the Canon EOS R5, EOS 5 and RED Komodo.

This new lens compatible with Full Frame cameras has a maximum aperture of F 1.4 with a variable range up to F22. The lens is composed of 9 optical elements distributed in 7 groups. These are Ultra Multi-Coated hybrid-aspheric elements that help reduce chromatic aberrations while increasing image quality and sharpness. Among them are 4 high refractive index elements to reduce distortions. The diaphragm is designed with 8 blades with curved design to create smooth and pleasing bokeh.

It is the first manual focus lens designed for Canon RF mount. It can be switched between manual and autofocus via a side button. For autofocusing, a dual ultrasonic linear motor has been designed to make it fast, quiet and accurate. It is also designed to stay in focus throughout the entire lens path thanks to its internal focusing design.

As for the exterior design of the lens, a completely sealed metal chassis has been chosen for use in all circumstances. On the front side the filter diameter is 72mm and is not rotatable. For the aperture ring they have opted for a matte non-slip material.

A lens with multiple possible uses and also for travel will be available from June and will be priced at $699.
