This tutorial, by Avid Applications Specialist Bob Russo, discusses the use of Avid Artist Series controllers in the Media Composer and Symphony systems.
Thanks to them we can significantly increase our work speed, whether we are editing, mixing audio or correcting color. Therefore, in this tutorial they tell us about the possibilities of each of these controllers:
Avid Artist Control
This is the first one we will be able to see and it is used to speed up the editing and mixing processes of any application that supports the Eucon protocol.
As in the rest, they will explain the different parts of the controller and its options, such as the mixing area, button panels or playback area.
Avid Artist Mix
For audio mixing with any application that supports the Eucon protocol. Its main difference with the Artist Control is that it has the advantage of being more specialized because it includes 8 faders instead of 4.
In this case, both are linked so they can work in a fully integrated way. In the video you will see the advantages of this.
Avid Artist Transport
It is a controller for browsing and editing video and audio projects. As we can see in the tutorial, it works very well complementing another one like Artist Color.
It contains many assignable buttons (“Softkeys”), which can be modified as desired to customize the interface.
Avid Artist Color
Finally, we access the Media Composer color correction tool to demonstrate the speed that a controller like this can provide.
The video briefly explains the available functions and how to access them without having to use the mouse at any time. Some shortcuts are also named, such as how to view the before/after in split screen.
In addition, you will also learn how all these controllers communicate with the Media Composer or Symphony editing systems (using the Eucon protocol, via Ethernet).
And if you are interested in getting training on color correction or editing I recommend you to take a look at the courses Color Correction Theory, DaVinci Resolve, DaVinci Resolve Advanced, Baselight for Avid, Color Correction in SGO Mistika or Advertising Editing.
