Canon launches its new EOS R system expanding the possibilities of its famous EOS and including a new RF mount.
EOS R system
EOS R offers the new RF mount, created with an optical system with a mount-to-sensor distance of 20 mm and a large 54 mm diameter. The new 12-pin mount enables improved communication and increased transmission power between the lens and camera body, as well as enhanced design options for lenses, providing higher image quality and improved handling.
The new EOS R System allows users to shoot stills and video in poor lighting conditions with accurate focusing using Dual Pixel CMOS AF. The EOS R System provides flexibility as well as quiet shooting. It in turn provides higher quality video output over any camera in the EOS System, apart from the Cinema EOS range of cameras, thanks to the 10-bit 4K HDMI 4K output. It also includes an electronic viewfinder and extensive customization possibilities.
The EOS R System inherits many advantages, such as compatibility with EF and EF-S lenses and accessories when using one of the three new adapters that have been developed, pushing the boundaries of image capture. Canon is also launching four new lenses compatible with the EOS R System: RF 28-70mm f/2L USM, RF 50mm f/1.2L USM, RF 24-105mm f/4L USM and RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM. Users already using full-frame or APS-C format EOS cameras will be able to enjoy their EF and EF-S lenses on the EOS R System thanks to the adapters, maintaining the same performance as with SLR cameras, as well as EOS accessories and Speedlite flashes.
