GimbalGun, an innovative support for gimbals

Introducing GimbalGun, this gizmo designed for use with gimbals to give you even more stability. It’s not available yet, but it’s coming soon to Kickstarter.

Basically it’s a long metal box with a bunch of holes for connecting devices. A gimbal, monitor, microphone, lights, mini tripods, or whatever you need to carry with the gimbal. But it’s meant to help take weight off the arms and rest mostly on the shoulders.

It supports almost any Gimbal and while there seems little doubt that the added weight and weight distribution will probably help produce a stable shot, especially when panning, it would have to be tested how comfortable it would be to use it for a whole day.

They’ve posted some sample shots taken with the GimbalGun, and while it really doesn’t look much different than simply holding the gimbal in the usual way, I imagine the operator’s arms were grateful for the weight distribution.

Logically, the idea of redistributing all the weight to carry makes sense. However as I said before, we will have to check how ergonomic and comfortable this particular design will be. After all, it is basically a square metal tube.

The GimbalGun is not yet available for purchase but will be coming to Kickstarter soon. Expected retail for the GimbalGun will be $199, but there are expected to be some early deals already so it may be that its price could come down.
