On June 29 Canon announced the release of its new DSLR camera, the EOS 6D Mark II. This is the first update to the 6D line since the release of its original in 2012.
The EOS 6D Mark II is a more affordable camera than its predecessor, and slightly smaller in size, while retaining its full-frame shooting feature.
It is a DSLR in a lower category than the 5D MkIV in terms of features, but at the same time with a very affordable price. A camera oriented, in canon’s words, both for professional photography and for those who are looking to go one step further.
This now incorporates a 26.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, which contrasts with the 20.2 megapixels of the 6D; and with DIGIC 7 processor that allows a burst speed of up to 6.5 frames per second. As for the sensitivity range, it has an ISO between 100 and 40,000.
The 6D Mark II also features a 45-point cross-type auto sensor, allowing more accurate tracking, and a Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus system for movie shooting. Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus system for movie shooting.
In addition, it is the first EOS-type full-frame DSLR to feature a vari-angle touchscreen that is more user-friendly.
All in all, it can be said that this is a quite competent EOS unit, but its main shortcoming is its video performance, as it is limited to Full HD recording, which is not enough, considering the current trend towards 4K videos. Although it does allow time-lapse mode at 4K, as well as recording at up to 60 fps. It also includes a 5-axis stabilization system.
