Tokina has introduced its new lens atx-i 11-20mm lens for Canon and Nikon APS-C DSLR cameras . This lens is intended for both video and still photography with an added value for users, the interaction between photographer and lens.
It should be noted that the future Tokina atx-i 11-20mm F2.8 CF will become the first lens for APS-C mount DSLR cameras with ultra wide-angle zoom and f 2.8 aperture on the market. With respect to the f 2.8 aperture, Tokina has managed to maintain this aperture throughout the entire length of the lens without losing brightness, making it easier to maintain depth of field. This is also an advantage when working in low light conditions.
The lens is constructed in such a way as to minimize image distortion being a wide-angle and spherical aberration. This is due to the presence of 3 aspherical glass elements and 3 super low dispersion glass elements, resulting in high optical performance. At any distance, edge-to-edge contrast and resolution are also maintained. Reduction of reflections and ghosting is achieved by the coating of several anti-reflective layers.
As for focusing, Tokina has included a silent SD-M focusing motor and a GMR sensor that make autofocusing accurate and fast. For switching between the 2 focus types, manual and auto, a button has been incorporated for quick access to either of the 2 focus modes. The optics do not breathe when changing focal length, as focus is maintained throughout the lens.
At the moment the Tokina atx-i 11-20mm F2.8 CF is only available for pre-sale, it has not been officially released.
