Tutorial: Teal & Orange look in Colorista 2

I like this plugin… veryyyyyy well, so much so that I bought it and in the present situation that is a HUGE compliment. It installs in all the editing and compo programs I use; this allows me to guarantee color continuity in projects that have to jump a lot (roundtripping) between VFX and editing. The basic idea is in the saturation and hue controller (photo01) to bring the yellow and red colors closer to the orange position and increase the saturation of the latter. Ideally in the vectorscope we will be marking the line at 10’30 on the clock time (half an hour more, half an hour less) also known as “SKIN COLOUR”, then we will also zoom in the cyan and blue colors, without saturating them so as not to gain too much noise. Optionally, in forest shots it can be interesting to reduce the saturation of the green and bring it closer to neutralize the presence of the trees.

Subsequently, in primaries, it is usually a good policy to give a little blue in shadows and a little yellow in highlights (photo 2).

Curiously, in the footage I have available for the example, I have a famous actor who has been for many years in a TV series that popularized in our country this LOOK. Does anyone know which one?
But my favorite example is the GREAT indie MOVIE “Winter’s Bone”, in this film shot mostly in forests we have a PER-FECT-TOO example of a very good application of “TEAL & ORANGE”, with the main variation of looking for a desaturation of orange and more light in the faces. In the frame that I give you as an example I ask you to count how many colors are in the plano…. Wait, the girl’s jacket and the two trucks behind her have EXACTLY THE SAME COLOR (did someone say duotone…?) By the way, don’t you think that the girl’s face stands out a lot in the shot 😉
