The new retro-revolution: The Bolex S16 Digital !!!

Tremble, HDSLR and low cost film lovers! In case the instagram on your cell phones wasn’t enough and you were longing for the PL adapter to put lenses on your iphone, now you have something better: the new vintage camera has arrived, in 2K RAW!!!!!!

Yes, apparently it is real as you can see on their website. Under the blessing of the mythical camera brand Bolex (no, I never had one, I’m too young 🙂 Ellen and Joe have developed a camera with a retro look but digital heart: 2K, Raw in Cinema DNG or TIFF or JPG frame streams, 12b 444, XLR audio inputs… for $3200!!! (less than a 5D Mark III).

Yes, I know, it sounds Martian, but who believed in Red One when they were doing presales at NAB? I remind you that those people made sunglasses….

Of course now we will have to do all the tests of resolution, dynamic range, real iso, noise in low lights, gammut in color spaces under international standards… and all those freaky things that cinematographers and colorists like so much, but how cool is that? 🙂

From this link you can go to buy it or watch a video that will instruct you in the history of the camera.

I copy-paste from the official website all the technical data of the camera, you can also download the pdf I think this little camera will give what to talk about (if all this is true).
