RED supports HDR monitoring

Yesterday ended the IBC exhibitions in Amsterdam, where the most important manufacturers in the audiovisual market have been showing us their latest news. Red Digital Cinema could not miss, which has presented a function for HDR monitoring and new accessories.

The HDR-2084 function is integrated in the Redcast module (for broadcast) and supports the SMPTE 2084 display standard for high dynamic range (HDR). It can be used in the Red Epic Dragon and Scarlet Dragon cameras, thus monitoring HDR and standard dynamic range simultaneously.

This Redcast module ($6,950) also adds support for 3D LUTs and recording up to 6K while streaming in 4K or HD.

In addition, Red has announced the following new products and accessories:

• October: 120GB Mini-Mag disk ($850) and new Red Dragon 6K Standard OLPF filter ($295).

• November: Weapon Red OLED Viewfinder (EVF) with 1920 x 1080 resolution (for $3,450 or $4,150 with mounting kit).

• Early this year: 4.7-inch 720p resolution Weapon Red Touch LCD ($1,450).

• Spring 2016: Weapon Redvolt Expander, which will allow Redvolt XL batteries to be replaced without turning off the camera.
