Bluefish444, manufacturer of high-end SDI cards, has announced the release of a new Windows installer for its Epoch4K Supernova.

This update, v5.11.2, adds 4K functionality to the software of this card. The Supernova4K has become the company’s flagship product. Thanks to its bi-directional BNC structure it can be used both in SDI multichannel ingest, SDI stereoscopic 3D input and output, or as a solution for 4K SDI preview. In addition, Bluefish444 cards support 4K, 2K, HD and SD resolutions.

Assimilate Scratch and Scratch Lab

This new Windows installer, along with the Epoch4K Supernova, allows Scratch and Scratch Lab users to preview in full 4K, HD SDI and 12-bit resolution. This increased bit depth provides a display that matches the images captured on the latest digital cameras.

In Scratch and Scratch Lab the Supernova4K will support the following previews:

– Digital Cinema, with 4096 x 2160 resolution, in 4:4:4 RGB (8 or 10 bit), with Dual Link HD SDI.
– Digital Cinema, with 4096 x 2160 resolution, in 4:2:2 YUV (8 or 10 bit), with HD SDI.
– 4K QFHD, with 3840 x 2160 resolution), in 4:4:4 RGB (8 or 10 bit), with HD SDI.
– 4K QFHD, with 3840 x 2160 resolution), in 4:2:2 YUV (8 or 10 bit), with HD SDI.

However, if we want to achieve 12 bit, the resolution is reduced to 2048 x 1080 maximum, in 4:4:4 RGB, with HD SDI.

– HD SDI preview for color space conversion between 8, 10 and 12 bit, YUV and RGB.

Adobe Creative Suite 6

The v5.11.2 update for Windows also adds enhancements and new features to the Adobe Mercury Transmit plug-in:

– Preview in Premiere Pro, at 4K YUV 4:2:2:2 SDI, via the Adobe Transmit plugin.
– Preview in After Effects, at 4K YUV 4:2:2:2 SDI, via the Adobe Transmit plugin.
– YUV ⇔ RGB to 12 bit processing color space conversions (including 4K RGB → YUV).
– Premultiplied from alpha channel to over RGB in After Effects.

Avid

The installer is compatible with Avid Media Composer 6.5, Symphony 6.5 and NewsCutter 10.5 open IO software packages; and adds the following enhancements:

– HD or SD input and output via HD SDI.
– Color space conversions from YUV ⇔ RGB to 12-bit processing.
– Hardware upgrade and support acquisition.
– Full IO Video PsF (Progessive Segmented Frame) support.

Also included for the first time with the Supernova4K is the company’s Symmetry 3D & DI software for capture, preview and playback. Symmetry is used as a digital intermediate tool for 4:4:4 and 4:2:2:2 workflows and, as of recently, for stereoscopic capture and preview. Here you can see all the details about this software.

The Windows v5.11.2 installer can now be downloaded, free of charge for Epoch4K Supernova users, from this page. It is compatible with Windows XP (32 bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit).
