New Marshall V-LCD monitors

Cache Media and Marshall Electronics have just released their new generation of Marshall V-LCD monitors, for use primarily on DSLR cameras or as field monitors.

This series of LED backlit Marshall monitors has been specifically designed to cope with the conditions provided by larger sensors and the adoption of DSLRs in the professional world. Therefore, the factors that have been taken into account most in its development have been focus and exposure.

Three sizes are available:

They all have a resolution of 1280 x 768, and include HDCP (High-Bandwith Digital Content Protection) compliant HDMI input and output. There is also an optional modular feature that provides additional 3G HD-SDI configurations.

The monitors are high brightness (600 nit), lightweight and easy to use thanks to an icon-based menu. They include a waveform display and stereo audio level bars, in addition to the headphone output on the front panel.

In this same panel, four buttons can be assigned custom functions. Among other features we can find:

– Pixel by pixel function: to preset a section of the image to fill the screen.
– Focusing aid.
– Peaking with a selection of four colors.
– Aspect ratio presets for DSLRs.
– A wide variety of markers.
– Check RGB.
– RGB Gain.
– Polarization control.
– Adjustable IRE guide: for clip and trim control.
– False Color function: very useful as an exposure indicator.

Cache Media says they have been selected by cinematographers and DSLR users alike because of their usefulness in providing a reliable reference for focus, exposure, colorimetry and framing. In addition, Den Lennie (UK dop and director of the F-Stop Academy school) states that “the monitor is sharp, accurate, modular and lightweight. Totally reliable when you’re judging exposure on set. Also, the color accuracy is impeccable, something that’s not so common when you’re working with video monitors.”

These three Cache Media monitors will be shown at the BVE in London, between February 26th and 28th. On this page you have all the information available so far.
