Neat Video 4

ABSoft has just introduced the fourth version of Neat Video, its plug-in designed to reduce digital video noise.

This version improves visual quality and adds other features for better results. However, before we get into what’s new it should be said that users of After Effects CC 2015, Premiere Pro CC 2015, Nuke 9, Pinnacle Studio 18.5.1 and Magix Video Pro will be happy to know that these systems now have support for Neat Video.

There is now more accurate processing in scenes that change their luminance or chrominance, e.g. because of a fade or because the automatic crosstalk was set.

The “Dust and Scratches” filter has been added to remove scratches, dust and other film blemishes. In addition, edges have been improved, resulting in sharper edges and less halos.

This update comes with two new modes, “Slow Shutter“, for clips containing repeated frames, and “High Quality“, which preserves a sharper image even though it takes 1.5 to 4 times longer than before.

The workflow has also been optimized by restructuring the filter settings, improving the filter preview and making it possible to compare filter settings.

Finally, there is an option that will be especially useful for Final Cut Pro X users, called “Skip Neat Video Processing” that allows us to temporarily disable all instances of Neat Video filters, thus speeding up the editing of the main system.
