FilmLight has been awarded a 2012 Primetime Emmy Award for its innovative Truelight color management and Baselight Transfer dailies management products.
In the “Engineering” category, presented by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, awards are presented for significant innovations in television. However, FilmLight’s products are not limited to this area, but are also aimed at film projects. These two, Truelight On-Set and Baselight Transfer, are part of the “end-to-end” color line that aim to provide a consistent look and gain creative control of the scene.
The Truelight color management system takes care of the wide range of color spaces and viewing methods that exist and are in use today, providing cinematographers with precision while applying their creative vision. They can perform color correction with ASC CDL while taking advantage of and making the most of the full dynamic range of digital cameras.
It also takes care of color conversions in order to perform an ACES (Academy Colour Encoding System) workflow. You can see all the features of Truelight On-Set here.
Baselight Transfer is a system designed with the intention of being able to fulfill all dailies workflows using files from the latest digital cameras, including the most demanding ones such as 4K or 5K. The dailies management is done by processing from ingest and review, being able to generate material for editing, VFX and other types of deliverables. It is also possible to encode raw files from cameras such as Sony F65, Arri Alexa, Red Epic or Phantom; synchronize sound; apply color corrections using the included scopes; manage metadata and even “burn” image information.
In addition, Baselight Transfer is fully integrated with Truelight, so it fully supports its color management, ACES and ASC CDL.
For more than three years both systems have been part of the post-production process of TV series and movies, including Psych (Universal), Body of Proof (ABC) or Game of Thrones (HBO); and thanks to these works they have now been awarded.
