Once again, while we are waiting for NAB to be held in Las Vegas, we get news about the latest developments, now from DVS, who have announced the presentation of version 5.0 of its Clipster workstation.
This system allows to perform all the processes for a DI (Digital Intermediate) workflow without having to go through any other device or program. It offers capture, editing, conversion to different output formats and even image restoration (by integrating Diamant restoration software). Visual effects can also be created without slowing down the rest of the work, since it is a system designed so that practically all its tools can work in real time.
Supports any type of resolution: SD, HD, 2K or 4K.
In this new version, the work in s3D has been improved, integrating a stereoscopic analyzer software called STAN, whose algorithm analyzes and corrects the problems of spatial transformations in the s3D material.
Some of the features of his work in s3D are:
– Possibility of stereoscopic tracks in the timeline.
– Tool for manual or automatic depth control.
– Mastering according to the DCI standard in s3D through a wizard.
– Stereoscopic DCP quality control directly from Clipster.
Together with the Digital Cinema Mastering Tool, Clipster is able to support formats such as IMF, providing the digital master as a file package with different audio, video or subtitle tracks.
It can work perfectly with RAW material from cameras such as RED, ARRI or Sony, as it is possible to decode these files and de-bayer the RAW from the same system.
It also accepts formats such as Panasonic AVC-Ultra, Sony SR, Apple ProRes (422, Proxy, LT, 4444) and Avid DNxHD; and conforms or encodes these files into ProRes (on a system that runs on Windows) or DNxHD, making it a very versatile system for generating dailies or versions for editing systems, since transcoding is done at enormous speed (in many cases faster than real time).
It is capable of high-speed JPEG2000 encoding, as well as reading and writing OpenEXR (explained in this article along with IIF/ACES and others).
