Boris FX has just announced its new Boris RED 5.5 plugin, an application for elaborate text, transitions and advanced compositing within the Avid Media Composer family (Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter).
It is compatible with any version 5.5 and above and is the successor to Avid FX, which was previously included with all Avid editing solutions. In fact, if you have Avid FX projects that you want to edit, don’t worry. Just open them in Media Composer or Symphony 8 and you can edit titles and effects with Boris RED 5.5.
Thanks to improved performance and new integration, it is now possible to display titles, transitions and effects in real time.
The text window has been updated for Windows users, including numeric sidebars that allow you to fine-tune text size. The uniformity of the text tool has also been improved, adding it on Mac platforms to match the previous Windows one, as well as being able to type and manipulate directly from the preview pane.
Boris RED 5.5 will be available later this month for $995. It will be available directly from the Boris FX website or through its resellers. Existing Avid FX users can upgrade for $295.
